Wai-Peng graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) with a Bachelor of Arts with Merit, majoring in Economics and English Language, and a Bachelor of Social Sciences with Honours. She went on to obtain a Diploma in Education with Merit from the National Institute of Education (NIE), Singapore. She has also undergone International Baccalaureate's specialised training in teaching Economics and Approaches to Learning.

Wai-Peng began her teaching career as an ‘A’ level Economics teacher with the Ministry of Education. She initiated and organised overseas Economics enrichment trips for her students to Shanghai and Beijing, and was awarded the Caring Teacher Award. Prior to joining SOTA, she was Subject Head for Pastoral Care and Career Guidance.

Wai-Peng has always been passionate about the arts. Having learnt piano at a young age and been an active member of the symphonic band in her school days, Wai-Peng had participated and performed in overseas exchange programmes in Japan, South Korea and the United States. She aims to arouse students’ interest in the learning of Economics through making connections to the arts.
