Kit graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree (majoring in Computer Science, Software Engineering) from the National University of Singapore and went on to receive her Postgraduate Diploma in Education as well as a Masters in Education (Curriculum Teaching and Learning) from the National Institute of Education (NIE), Singapore. She has received a Certificate in Reality Therapy from the William Glasser Institute of America and a Certificate in Special Learning Needs from the NIE. She has also undergone International Baccalaureate’s specialised training in teaching Mathematical Studies and in guiding students for their Creativity, Activity, Service projects.

Kit began her teaching career at Assumption English School (AES). She was involved in the setting up of the Student Leadership Programme and Student Overseas Enrichment Programme. She was awarded the Outstanding Staff Award and Outstanding Team Award while in AES and was the subject head of Pupil Welfare for two years. Kit was also involved in the curriculum design and alignment of the Montfortian Achiever Programme in character education.

In 2006, Kit was seconded to set up NorthLight School (NLS). She was involved in the design and review of the mathematics curriculum as well as the character programme, specifically the Financial Literacy Programme. Coming from a low income family, she aspired to help the students at NLS break the cycle of poverty through education. As such, she ideated, conceptualised and designed the financial literacy game, Mind Your Money (MYM), with a team of educators at NLS. Using Singapore as the context, MYM was designed to enhance and encapsulate financial literacy values and collaborative learning. The game won The Ideas-Citibank Award 2008, Innergy Award Gold 2009 and PS21 Excel Award Gold 2009 – Best Project MYM. The NorthLight MYM Team also won the Outstanding Contribution Award in 2008.

At NLS, Kit taught Mathematics and was in charge of curriculum design and alignment of Year 3 Vocational Mathematics, Performance Tasks Assessment presented at MOE Excel Fest 2012. She was also in charge of the Habits of Mind Committee at NLS.
